Torrential rain and a massive oil slick knocked Mercedes-Benz drivers Louis Chiron and Manfred von Brauchitsch, as well as Auto Union driver Bernd Rosemeyer, out of the 1936 Monaco Grand Prix on the second lap. It was the biggest accident in Silver Arrows history, but it didn't dampen their spirits.

Rudolf Caracciola took control from this point on and commanded the race on his own terms. First, second, and third place were all claimed by Silver Arrows cars with Caracciola taking the top spot for Mercedes.

The Rainmaster proved worthy of his title yet again.
