The morning of October 6, 1973, François quietly told Ken Tyrrell he intended to put his Tyrrell-Ford on the pole at the United States Grand Prix. As they spoke, François quietly listened to Tyrrells' trusted consul. They had a wonderfully close relationship and one could sense that Tyrrell was deeply confident that Cevert would lead their team to another World Championship in 1974. It was not to be.
